Terminology: Two New Words to Describe Wrist Deviations


A Joint-Neutral Left Wrist

neutral wrist position is present when the left wrist lines up joint neutral to the forearm without any upward or downward cocking present. A joint neutral condition occurs when the bones of the palm are lined up with the radial and ulnar bones of the forearm in all three planes.


Radial Wrist Deviation

Radial wrist deviation occurs when the wrist angle cocks upward toward the radial bone


Ulnar Wrist Deviation

Ulnar wrist deviation occurs when the wrist angle cocks downward toward the ulnar bone
